His film PK became the highest grossing Indian film ever in China. It has earned a whopping amount of 140 crs net box office surpassing the records of 3 Idiots and Dhoom 3. It had released on a huge scale of 4000 screens.

Interestingly, Aamir's 3 Idiots became the first Indian films that were screened publicly in China since 1970, post which several Indian films garnered a gateway into the China market. In fact, the film struck an instant chord with China's famously overworked students, so much so that some Chinese universities were, last year, even prescribing the film in their coursework as a kind of stress-relief in their classrooms.
