Sanjay Dayma will be making his directorial debut with "Ramji Londonwale" starring Madhavan.

When asked why he cast Madhavan as the main lead, he said: "In fact you should ask the question why me? 'Ramji Londonwale' is completely Madhavan's baby - right from taking the rights of the story from Kamal Hassan to putting the whole team together, the producer, the technical staff etc.

"In fact, he chose me to direct the film. It's completely his baby. It's a movie close to his heart. In fact, I'm honoured to direct Madhavan. He is a complete actor and really got into the skin of the character of Ramji Londonwale. It was a creatively stimulating experience working with the superstar."

Incidentally Sanjay Dayma was chief writer and associate director of the highly acclaimed "Lagaan".

Says Madhavan: "Sanjay Dayma has got the right sensibility and I trusted Sanjay to deliver. He is going to be a director to watch out for in the near future."
